About the MIPC & Contacting us

The Mandarin Immersion Parents Council is a source for families about Mandarin immersion education. In 2007 the MICP began as a support network for parents, students and staff in the San Francisco Unified School District’s Mandarin immersion program.

In May of 2012 that parent group became a non-profit and now operates as JMEC, the Jinshan Mandarin Education Council – 金山中文教育协会.

However over time the MIPC web site has become an information source for Mandarin immersion schools nationwide, run by Elizabeth Weise, one of the founding  MIPC members and now a board member of JMEC. The decision was made to continue the MIPC site as a national resource, which Weise will continue to run.

She also runs multiple mailing lists for parents in Mandarin immersion and those interested in the topic. The main Yahoo group, for parents anywhere with an interest in Mandarin immersion, is –
