A parent passed along this camp info in China. Does anyone have any experience with it? The MIPC always gets lots of inquiries about summer camps in China but thus far we haven’t heard much from parents with actual experience sending their kids. If you’ve had a child at this or any other camp in China or Taiwan or Singapore, or if you know someone who has, please comment and tell us how it went. It’s a real need, but we also know that parents are cautious of sending their kids halfway across the world to an unknown.

My nephew (13 yo.) is interested in taking classes for 3 weeks this January. Preferably in China. Does anyone have any idea of winter break programs in China? How about even total immersion programs in the US?

I took my daughter to Shanghai last summer. She took classes at IMandarin. The classes were good and the location was excellent. You can check out the website. They have classes in both Beijing and Shanghai.
I am looking for a sleep away situation this year where she can keep learning chinese. She will be 13.
If you hear of any reputable programs…post them, please. Thank you.

I work for Bilingual Buds, a Mandarin immersion preschool/primary school located in Summit, NJ and New York, NY. The school is offering a Summer Camp in Beijing travel experience this year for children ages 4-12 and their families. During the day, students attend the school’s Beijing partner program, joining native students for playful learning in Mandarin. The curriculum is co-created by Bilingual Buds and therefore high energy and well integrated with what students are experiencing inside and outside the classroom (all levels of Mandarin welcome). Parents are busy with a daily sightseeing itinerary of their own. On weekends, the larger group will tour kid-friendly attractions. Accommodations include 5-star hotel apartments. Trip dates are July 13 – July 30, 2011. Happy to provide more info if you are interested.

I’m replying to your link that is a few years old but I would love to know how the trip went and if you are planning to do it again. I have 3 daughters who are all in Mandarin programs and would love to do a program like this for during the summer os 2016.

i contacted the BCLU which is a public university in beijing that does teacher-trainin in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL). the BCLU folks told me they have NO affiliation with this RICH-BCLU organization. this means that the RICH-BCLU school is misleading people with their marketing. be careful.
