National Chinese Language Conference: Boston April 7 – 9, 2013

December 19, 2012
I attended this conference last year and it was fascinating, but not really meant for parents. However do tell your teachers, principals and district staff about it as it’s kind of a one-stop shop for a lot of Chinese immersion information. If your district is contemplating starting an immersion program, someone should attend as it’s really an immersion into Chinese immersion (sorry, I couldn’t help myself.)
Asia Society and the College Board, in collaboration with 2013 regional partner Primary Source, are pleased to open registration for the 6th annual National Chinese Language Conference. This year’s NCLC looks to Engage the Future, with a focus on cutting-edge approaches to teaching that incorporate culture, technology, and international exchange, program quality and sustainability, and best practices in the classroom leading to high levels of language proficiency and deeper knowledge of China.

At NCLC, there are many ways to immerse yourself in enriching experiences and timely professional development:

  • Choose from among 70+ sessions and workshops
  • Learn how to effectively integrate the study of China and Chinese language
  • Hear from visionary speakers and thought leaders in the field
  • Enjoy performances highlighting Chinese culture
  • Visit Boston-area schools to see K–12 Chinese programs in action
  • Explore the rich history and educational legacy of the Boston area
