The Menlo Park City School District is to hold an informational meeting this morning and on Oct. 9 regarding a proposed Mandarin immersion charter school.

District Superintendent Maurice Ghysels as well as school board President Joan Lambert and Vice President Maria Hilton will attend both meetings to answer questions about a petition submitted by organizers of the proposed Menlo Mandarin Immersion Charter School.

The first meeting, geared toward the Encinal and Laurel communities, will take place at 8:45 a.m. today at Laurel Elementary School, 95 Edge Road, Atherton. The second, for Oak Knoll and Hillview communities, will start at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 9 at Oak Knoll Elementary School, 1895 Oak Knoll Lane, Menlo Park.

The school board plans to hold a public hearing on the charter school’s application at 6 p.m. on Oct. 14 at the Teacher Educational Resource Center, 181 Encinal Ave., Atherton.
